Dervla McTiernan is an Irish novelist best known for her crime fiction novels set in Galway, Ireland. She has also written a number of short stories and non-fiction articles. McTiernan was born in Dublin, Ireland, and grew up in Galway. She studied English and History at Trinity College, Dublin, before going on to complete a PhD in Celtic Studies at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth. She has worked as a teacher, a farmer, and a freelance journalist.
