The characters in Gone Girl are unusually well-drawn and three-dimensional for a work of fiction. They are also incredibly believable, even when they are doing things that are out of the ordinary.

I have always enjoyed Julia Whelan’s performance in audiobooks and this is another great one. She does an excellent job with both characters and the male voice is especially nice to hear.
The story is really good too. It’s a great blend of romance, mystery and suspense. I love the way the author weaves all of the different threads together and keeps the reader guessing.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good romantic mystery. It is a mystery novel, a love story, a psychological thriller and a social satire. It is a novel of many layers, one that is sufficiently suspenseful and entertaining to be read at a sitting.”
But that’s the reason I stayed away from Gone Girl. It was too many things. I didn’t want to be disappointed. I felt that because there were so many things it was trying to be, it couldn’t be any good.
I was wrong.
Gone Girl is, in fact, all of those things. And more.
The story’s premise is this: Nick and Amy Dunne have been married for five years. They’re in their early 30s and live in New York City. Nick is a writer. Amy is a former writer. The couple relocate from New York to Nick’s hometown of North Carthage, Missouri, because Nick has lost his job. He’s about to lose his job, in fact. He’s about to be laid off.
Amy is the daughter of two rich and successful writers. Her parents have been separated for several years and are considered to be “happily unmarried.
