Hanya Yanagihara is a novelist and editor. Born in 1975 in Hawaii, Yanagihara moved to New York City in 1996 to attend Barnard College. After graduation, she worked as an editor at various publishing houses, including Doubleday and Knopf. Her first novel, The People in the Trees, was published in 2013. Yanagihara’s second novel, A Little Life, was published in 2015. It was a finalist for the National Book Award and won the Los Angeles Times Book Prize. Yanagihara’s third novel, The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter, was published in 2019.
