Jim Butcher is a bestselling author best known for his Dresden Files series. He was born in 1971 in Independence, Missouri, and raised in the suburbs of Kansas City. He began writing at the age of eight, when he wrote a story about a goldfish who turned into a dragon. He wrote his first novel, Storm Front, in 2000, and it was published the following year. The Dresden Files series has been adapted for television, and Butcher has also written several tie-in novels for the popular role-playing game, Dungeons & Dragons.
