Blood Song

The Blood Song is a novel by Anthony Ryan, published in 2013. It is the first book in the Raven’s Shadow series.

The book follows the story of Vaelin Al Sorna, a young man who is taken from his mother at a young age and trained to be a warrior in the Sixth Order, a religious order that serves the Unified Realm. Vaelin is initially resentful of his new life but eventually comes to embrace it, and his skills as a warrior are put to the test when the Unified Realm comes under attack from a neighbouring kingdom.

The Blood Song was well-received by critics and was a commercial success, reaching the top of the New York Times bestseller list. A sequel, The Tower Lord, was published in 2014, and the third book in the series, The Queen’s Blade, is due to be published in 2015.
