Freefall

The Freefall series is a science fiction series written by Craig Alanson.

In the story Freefall, the protagonist, John, is a man who has just lost his job and is struggling to make ends meet. He is desperate to find a new job and support his family, but is having no luck. One day, he sees an ad in the paper for a job with a company called Freefall. John is excited by the prospect of the job and decides to apply. However, when he arrives for his interview, he finds that the company is a front for a group of criminals. The criminals offer John a job working for them, but he refuses. John is then forced to jump out of a window to escape the criminals. He is left injured and without a job, but is determined to find a way to support his family.
