Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil

John Berendt is best known for his work as a journalist and author. He has written for many publications, including The New Yorker, Esquire, and Harper’s. Berendt is perhaps most famous for his 1984 book, Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, which was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize. The book was adapted into a film in 1997, directed by Clint Eastwood.

The book tells the story of the murder of a young man named Danny Hansford by Jim Williams, a wealthy antiques dealer in Savannah, Georgia. Williams was tried four times for the murder, but each trial ended in a hung jury. The book also describes the city of Savannah and its eccentric residents.
