2. Anne Rice – The Vampire Chronicles

Anne Rice is an American author known for her literary works, novels based on the gothic, supernatural, religious, historical and erotic genres. Her best known works are the vampire novels and she has written numerous other novels and collections of short stories, including her famous Mayfair Witches series and her erotic stories, Beauty’s Punishment and Beauty’s Release, which were made into a film,Exit to Eden, in 1994.

The Vampire Chronicles

The first novel in The Vampire Chronicles series was published in 1976 and is titled Interview with the Vampire. The story follows the life of Lestat de Lioncourt, a French nobleman turned vampire who narrates his history to a young reporter called Louis Pointe du Lac. The story covers the history of Lestat from the time he was turned into a vampire in 1791, until the present day.
