Protect and Defend

Vince Flynn was an American author of political thrillers. He was best known for his Mitch Rapp series, which follows the character of Mitch Rapp, a counter-terrorism operative. Flynn began his writing career with the novel Term Limits, which was published in 1997. The novel was a success, and Flynn followed it with fourteen more novels, all of which were best-sellers. Flynn’s novels have been translated into over thirty languages and have sold millions of copies worldwide.

Flynn died in 2013 at the age of 47.

There is no specific series of work that will be written for this class. However, students may be asked to write short papers, journal entries, and other brief written assignments on occasion.

Protect and Defend is the third book in the Jack Ryan series, and it finds Jack Ryan faced with his toughest challenge yet. A group of terrorists has hijacked a plane and taken the passengers hostage, demanding that the President of the United States release a notorious criminal from prison. If their demands are not met, they will start killing the hostages. Jack Ryan must find a way to stop the terrorists and save the hostages before it’s too late.
