The Bands of Mourning are special metalminds that allow the user to fly. They were created by the Lord Ruler, and are the only known metalminds that allow flight. After the Lord Ruler’s death, they were lost and forgotten until they were rediscovered by Waxillium Ladrian.

The Bands are made of a unique metal that is attuned to Allomancy, and can be used to store and access Invested metals. When used in conjunction with an aluminummind, the Bands allow the user to fly.

The Bands of Mourning were originally created for the Lord Ruler’s elite soldiers, known as the Steel Inquisitors. The Lord Ruler gave them to his most trusted and loyal followers, and they were used to great effect in battle. After the Lord Ruler’s death, they were lost and forgotten until they were rediscovered by Waxillium Ladrian.

Wax uses the Bands of Mourning to save the city of Elendel from destruction, and in doing so, he learns the truth about the Lord Ruler and the Bands. He also discovers that the Bands can be used to fly, and he uses this new power to save the city from a devastating attack.
