The Old Man and the Sea

The Old Man and the Sea is a novel by Ernest Hemingway, published in 1952. It tells the story of an aging Cuban fisherman who struggles to catch a giant marlin in the Gulf Stream off the coast of Cuba.

Hemingway wrote the novel in 1951, while he was living in Cuba. It was published in 1952 and won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction the following year. The Old Man and the Sea was also adapted into a 1958 film, starring Spencer Tracy as the old man.
