Maggie Stiefvater is a New York Times bestselling author of urban fantasy novels for young adults. She is best known for her Raven Cycle series.

Stiefvater was born in Harrisonburg, Virginia and grew up in the Shenandoah Valley. She graduated from Mary Baldwin College with a BFA in art. After college, she worked as a technical editor, a photographer, and a musician before turning to writing full-time.

Stiefvater’s first book, Shiver, was published in 2009. It was followed by Linger and Forever in 2010. The Raven Boys, the first book in the Raven Cycle series, was published in 2012. The second book in the series, The Dream Thieves, was published in 2013. The third book, Blue Lily, Lily Blue, was published in 2014. The fourth and final book in the series, The Raven King, was published in 2016.

In addition to her writing, Stiefvater is also an accomplished musician. She plays the fiddle and the piano, and is a member of the band The Ravenna Boys.
